An Outfit Comes Together

By Tamera Beardsley @tamerabeardsley

Some days I look in my closets
and
no matter how full they are
I still feel like I literally have nothing to wear.
Which really means
I don't see anything I Want to Wear.
Nothing that really speaks to the mood I'm in …
Because I choose what to wear on how it makes me feel.

So last weekend I decided to just pull together pieces I felt like wearing …and I couldn't be happier how they all pulled together!
I started with my white western hat
tipped back to sport freshly colored  and done hair.
New sunglasseshuge pearls and braceletswhite jeansa tunicwrapped knit top
a short cashmere sweaterwhite jeansand cream suede ankle boots.
Finishing the ensemblea white gold clutchand my much loved  new faux fur wrap!

I had composed an outfit I couldn't waitto wear out for cocktailsjust by pulling together some of my favorite pieces
in my beloved color palette.

So Monday when I was traveling by train down to San Diegoto  spend the afternoon with my darling daughterfor her 24th birthdayI knew just the type of pieces I would be pulling!
The first piece I added was a large French market basket and scarf!I had to fill my basket very deliberatelysince  after debarking from the trainI would be spending the day walking all over downtown San Diego.

I so enjoy taking the train down.I always upgrade to business classwhich makes for such a lovely trip.

The views down are often spectacular.

The hour and a half tripand a usually empty morning carmakes it a perfect time for leisurely make up time.

My best tip for enjoying walking the cityand still feeling put together for shopping and luncha second pair of shoes.
I have in the pastjust picked a pair of flatsthat were comfortable enough …only to find myself blistered and pained by the end of the day.
This time I wore my favorite ankle bootsbut switched into my leather Vans for the several mile walk to Ellis's office.

This is something I will definitely repeat!I can't believe what a huge difference it made! When it was time for lunch and shopping I easily changed back!

My market shopperwas big enough to carry everything I needed for the dayincluding  a birthday present! The long straps meant I could carry it easily on my shoulder all day!

Ellis and I had a marvelous celebratory birthday lunchat one of my favorite Downtown spotsThe Water Grill!

Where the food was every bit as good as the gorgeous interior!

Downtown San Diego
has so much to see
especially  on foot.
With the turn of a corner
you can be somewhere completely different
like the Harbor Boardwalk
always one of my very favorite city walks.

But my favorite thing about visiting this beautiful city
is always visiting my
wonderful daughter.
My husband and I had so many memorable trips
to central California
while Ellis attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
and
these days we are missing our trips up there …
But now there is a whole other area
to get to know and discover.
And right there
in that mental space of
holding on to old  cherished memories
while going out full force
to new places, experiences and discoveries ...
Learning to cherish toady
and
all it has to offer in it's newness
without continually looking back in comparison
to days gone by ...
Is as far as I can see
one of the best ways
to
navigate an Empty Nest.
Here's to learning to navigate
for the very best view.

As always my friends
I wish you love and joyas you style your life
