Amy Correia: You Go Your Way

Posted on the 03 April 2012 by Hctf @hctf

After releasing two albums on a major label, singer-songwriter Amy Correia (Lakeville, MA) goes DIY for her third full-length You Go Your Way. Not many artist reserve such a prominent role for the bass ukelele, a down-home instrument that stand its ground even during the orchestrated songs.

Correia sounds like a folkie Cyndi Lauper, with a rough but captivating phrasing. Her lyrics that draw the listener in. The angry but funny Powder Blue Trans Am about trying to catch a man or exposing the hidden fears of a loud-mouth chick City Girl, she paints of lively picture of the song's protagonist. You Go Your Way is nominated in three categories for the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards. Add succeeding to raise $ 35,000 to be able to create this album, and Correia proofs that she got it right and the major labels, once again, got it wrong.
