Lahore Lions opener plundered 107 off 57 balls
Ahmed Shehzad slammed a whirlwind ton to power Lahore Lions to a mammoth total of 211-5 against Bahawalpur Stags in the first semi-final of Faysal Bank T20 Cup at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
The explosive opener plundered 107 off 57 balls with the help of 20 boundaries and a six and shared a 96-run second-wicket stand with Mohammad Hafeez (65 off 36) balls after hosts were asked to bat.
Shehzad switched on power hitting with emergence and galloped the total to 41 in four overs before left-arm seamer Kamran Hussain removed Nasir Jamshed (2) at the other end.
Shehzad then combined with skipper Hafeez and pulverized the clueless Bahawalpur bowling attack with flamboyant shots all over the ground.
Shehzad advanced to three figures with successive boundaries off Ataullah. His glorious knock came to an end in the next over when Imranullah Aslam captured his catch at deep mid-on off Kashif Siddiq.
After Shehzad’s dismissal Hafeez continued to pile up runs in the company of Umar Akmal (28 off 19).
Slamming six boundaries and three sixes in his knock, Hafeez eventually perished to Kamran Hussain, who later scalped Abdul Razzaq (0) and Wahab Riaz (1) in the final over.
