A Pram Fit for a King! – a Classic Vintage Inspired Stroller

By Reasonstodress

I’ve had vintage on my mind all week!  Maybe it is because I’m preparing to go to the Adriatic seaside, and that is usually where i find most of my favorite vintage finds, or maybe it is because I just recently bought a few great things from the antiques Market in Modena’s Piazza!

Not only is authentic vintage in style, but also new items that are retro/vintage inspired.  In fact while we were walking through the Piazza the other week I happened to notice this dad go by pushing this AMAZING STROLLER!

You may remember from a few weeks ago that I pleadged to feature more Dad style and so I posted this real Italian dad’s style!  This time instead of featuring the dad’s style (even thought his boating shoes are fantastic) I wanted to feature his newborn’s  ride!

This Italian made classic pram has that beautiful old time feel, but with comes complete with modern luxuries……. like brakes!!

Vintage doesn’t come cheap, and the whole complete set, including the removable base, seat, bassinet , rain cover and accessories costs around $1800 and can be be found here.

Personally, I don’t think I would use this for an older child.  Somehow, I would feel silly pushing a 2 year old around in this pram, especially because it isn’t exactly “small space friendly”!  However, I love the idea of this beautiful classic stroller for a newborn.   The bassinet, base and matching diaper bag can be found for around for around $1400 online here. But at that price, you might as well spend the etra $400 and get the seat as well!

All kiddign aside….I LOVE THIS PRAM!  I would wear a dark black petticoat with cinched in waist, stalking and heels and stroll from morning to evening pushing this.  It is the epitome of femininity and represents an age long before the “yummy mummy” craze, wen new mother’s were both sensual and desirable. Plus, listen to how the manufacturer describes it….irresistible!

This pram is individually handcrafted in Italy by skilled artisans using only the finest materials, the Classica places your child at the pinnacle of safety, comfort and style.  Inspired by 19th-century British aristocracy and refined in Italy, this enduring model of family and tradition features a timeless yet somehow uniquely contemporary design. The chromium-plated curved steel handle is padded with pure leather featuring hooks to connect your diaper bag (included with the bassinet). The refined details on this classic pram cannot be seen on any other. It features rich details with refined privacy curtain in delicate organza fabric.

A refined Privacy curtain!!!  My baby deserved a refined privacy curtain!

I had never really pictured it being pushed by a dad in boating shoes, and can honestly say this situation says  A LOT about this man’s confidence!  For some reason I can’t quite picture a North American dad strolling with one of these, let alone attempting to make it find in a car trunk!  Oh and it should be said he was with a male friend and not his baby’s mamma (so an extra 10 points for him!)

This is a pram purely for long strolls through a historic city centre, for a leisurely “passeggiata” to be passed in intimate company.  This stroller embodies Italy!! It is beautiful, well-made and is not that functional for modern-day life!
