A Look Back at My Wonderful Year

By Behindtheseclosedeyes @theseclosedeyes
A year ago I wrote a blog post about how good 2012 had been to me, and how I just had a good feeling about the year ahead. Well, I was pretty spot on. Without a doubt, 2013 has been the best year of my life! It has been the quickest year filled with so many wonderful memories & for that reason I wanted to put together a little summary of the past year.

The start of my year was dedicated to uni work, writing my dissertation and just recovering after the Christmas period, but the fun came in February. The month of February is always a great one for me as there's Valentine's Day and then my birthday. This was David and I's fourth Valentine's Day together and we celebrated with a yummy meal and lovely presents for each other. This year saw me turn 21 and it really was one of my favorite birthdays as I got to celebrate with David and my family. I was completely spoiled for my birthday and just had the best time! I also finally bit the bullet and get a full fringe cut into my hair. I'd been humming and hawing about getting a fringe cut for quite a while and finally decided to go for it.

My next highlight came at the beginning of June when David and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. We normally just have a lazy day together but this year we decided to make the most of the sunshine and jump on the train to Ayr. We spent the day sunbathing, walking along the beach and just enjoying a nice escape together, and for that reason I really treasure that day. June was also the month that I found out I got a 2.1 in my Management degree and that was a very proud moment for me!

Soon enough it was July and I was graduating with my Honours degree! We had been in the middle of a heatwave so it was a glorious day and although I was absolutely boiling in my robes, I still had such a great time. Walking across the stage to be capped and receive my diploma was a scary but proud moment and it made all of the hard work, stress and tears worth it. I was lucky to have David, my parents and my brother at the ceremony and we later headed home to have a party with the rest of the family. It was a lovely day and one that I will always remember. Now I just need to get myself a full time job!

Fast forward to September and to the best day of my life, without a doubt. David is always full of surprises and whisked me away to the gorgeous Mar Hall resort for a relaxing couple of days, but the biggest surprise came when he asked me to marry him. The proposal was absolutely perfect and I can't help but have the biggest smile on my face when I replay that moment in my head (which I tend to do quite a lot). Nothing makes me happier than knowing that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and I can't wait for everything else to come.
2013 has given me so many great memories and a wonderful fiancé, and now I'm looking forward to see what 2014 has in store. My goals for the next year are to carry on blogging, pass my driving test, be working full time and hopefully set a date for our wedding (!!).
What are your goals for 2014?
