A 10 Step Guide to Hair Heaven

The key to great health hair isn't as confusing as you think. If you commit to a healthy lifestyle choice, your hair will flourish. Here are the Sons top ten tips to help you keep your hair happy and healthy.

1. Eat more protein

It may surprise you to learn that your hair is built out of protein. Inevitably, that means the more you eat the more your hair grows. Try eating foods with high protein levels, such as fish, poultry and eggs. Not only will this improve your overall health, but your hair will thank you for it too.

2. Choose a premium quality shampoo

This one might be obvious, but it's hard to exaggerate the importance of buying good quality shampoo. The cheap shampoo will often contain harsh chemicals that damage and dehydrate your hair. It's always best to buy a light product that you know has been made with natural ingredients. The Sons shampoo is a great option, which contains essential oils to improve the appearance of your hair.

3. Don't be rough with your hair

Even if you've chosen lighter hair products, it's still important to have a gentle touch with your locks. For instance, if you're in the shower make sure it's not too hot, don't overuse hairdryers, and over-brushing your hair (we'd also recommend leaving the cap at home too). Relieving the physical strain on your hair can really improve your health. If you feel like your hair looks thin or damaged, using Biotin can help. This water-soluble vitamin helps to promote stronger and healthy hair.

4. Relax

Who wants to be stressed? There's no benefit for you or anyone around you, not least to mention your hair. Make sure you put aside some time for relaxation after a long day, whether that's exercising, meditation or going on a country walk. You'll see the positive effects on your hair immediately.

5. Sleep

With modern screens, it can be very easy to stay way past the time you should be asleep. Your body will naturally restore itself during sleep, so the more you get, the healthier your hair is going to be. The average adult should get around 7-9 hours every night.

6. Snack right

Bad snacking can be detrimental to overall body health. It's not hard to get it right though. Instead of those chocolate bars and crisps, try eating nuts and fruit with useful vitamins. The minerals you can get from healthy snacking will only benefit your hair in the long-term.

7. Minerals

Struggling to up that intake of the right vitamins and minerals? Taking multivitamins can be a great way to ensure you're always on the right path. There is an endless amount of supplements and finding the right balance can be perfect for your hair's health.

8. Spa trips

Now you have an excuse to book some spa days! Head massages promote growth and stimulate blood flow around your hair follicles, meaning your hair will be happier and healthier (and you will too).

9. Get cutting

Regularly going for a trim, especially if you have long hair, can be hugely helpful when you're trying to improve the health of your hair. Trimming every few weeks gets rid of those split ends, which in turn promotes hair growth.

10. Work out how your own hair reacts

In the 9 previous steps, we have seen that the key to healthy hair often lies in promoting overall body health too. Seeing how your own hair reacts to these steps is up to you. Try to decipher which methods really make a difference and optimize your hair growth.
