8 Facial Cleansers to Check out at Sephora (first Impressions)

By Beautifulbuns

I love Sephora and I’m super happy that we’ve got Sephora on our shores, but sometimes, when I walk in, I find that I can get rather lost and not know what to get from there. If you’re like me, here’s a short brief introduction on 8 cleansers from Sephora you can consider getting. Note that these aren’t my usual thorough reviews (more of my first impressions), but it’s still something to entice y’all when you’re thinking of getting a replacement facial cleanser.

Some of my instagram shots heh.

Anyways, here are the 8 cleansers I’ll be mentioning today.

Arcona Cranberry Gommage

Now this isn’t exactly a cleanser; it’s more of an exfoliating scrub. The scent is extremely strong (I can smell it even without opening the box). The grains are fine and it feels very paste-like with sandy grains. It can be a little harsh for those with sensitive skin, but for those who love a thorough scrub, this will leave your skin soft and smooth.

Algenist Ultimate Anti-Aging Foaming Cleanser

Foaming cleansers aren’t the favourites of many because of the perceived lack of cleansing power as well as the rather lightweight textures of the foam. However, this one is pretty decent – the foam is rather “solid” and gives an okay cleanse, making it perfect for mild cleansing.

Dr Jart+ Clay Mask + Foaming Cleanser Trio

This is an interesting one – because our skin has temperamental days, this trio can cater to the different varying skin conditions. There’s one for calming, moisturising and refreshing the skin. There’s not much foam lathered up, but it works pretty well in detoxing and cleansing the skin.

Estelle & Thild Biocleanse Silky Soft Cleansing Milk

This brand hails from Sweden and is actually an almost-luxury brand there. This cleansing milk is soft and gentle on the skin, removing most makeup (except the super stubborn ones) and leaves the skin feeling hydrated without the stripped-dry feeling.

GlamGlow PowerCleanse Daily Dual Cleanser

Now this is an interesting product – it has two components to it, with an oil and a mud (which is a rather creamy and fine mud, I must say).

You can customise it to your liking with this dual pump system – more oil, less oil, more mud, less mud.

Mix it together and then apply it to your face. It doesn’t form much of a foam or lather but it does give a decent cleanse and leave the skin feeling hydrated and smooth.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Cleansing Butter

Ooh la la~ can you see the gold specks there? That aside, it does allow for a home-spa experience. Simply grab a dollop with a spatula and massage it into your face for a luxe cleansing session. The skin is left rather soft and plump, although I wouldn’t recommend this for heavy makeup.

Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water for Face and Eyes

Anything with a pump system like this automatically gets an extra brownie point (I so do not like having to open bottles heh). I also love that it’s locked, so you can bring it along on a trip. The one downside is that it’s rather heavily fragranced, so those with sensitive skintypes may want to do a patch test before trying this out. That aside, this has surprisingly good makeup removal properties – it managed to remove most of my stubborn makeup, and did not leave any greasy/sticky feeling.

Make Up Eraser

This is another fascinating one. At first glance, it looks like a plain old microfibre cloth. When I read that it could remove makeup by just wetting it (sans any makeup remover), I was like whuttttt are you kidding me?

There are two sides to this cloth – one side (the one that looks like anemones) is used to remove makeup, while the other fluffeh side is used for skin exfoliation. Now that I’ve put it to the test – it does indeed help remove light makeup. Gasp. However, for thick/heavy makeup, I’d still recommend using other makeup removers, cos if you persist in using this, the amount of rubbing you’ll require may pull on the skin. I’d say this would be suitable for days when you’ve only got sunblock/light makeup on.

You can find all the cleansers featured here in Sephora.
