5 Best Natural Hair Care Resources for Children & Young Naturals

By Rockitnapptural @Rockitnapptural

1. BEADS, BRAIDS & BEYOND

"...I want to showcase a variety of natural children's hairstyles and show other moms that yes, your child does have options. I don't ever want you to feel limited because your child has natural hair. I truly believe natural hair is the most versatile hair out there. Embrace it, don't fight it." Beads, Braids and Beyond.

Beads, Braids and Beyond was the first children's natural hair blog I stumbled on that interestingly  proved to be a valuable resource in providing some of the best advice on natural hair care, and not just for children. There were topics ranging from stunted hair growth, creating a simple natural hair routine and cornrowing for beginners (which I'm still struggling with by the way)...

Beads, Braids and Beyond was created by Nikki, a mother of two that had been searching endlessly for a blog that catered to the maintenance of Biracial and African-American children's hair care. When her resources fell short, she decided to create her own blog using "hair time" as a time to bond with her children, and create a platform for other mothers looking for options and versatility in styling their children's natural hair.

Beads, Braids & Beyond can be found on their YouTube channel or on Facebook .

2. CHI CHI SOPHISTICATION KIDS!

"I am a family first, family always kind of woman. I adore children, which explains my service to the Washington D.C. area for 8 years as an Early Childhood Educator. I am a writer, poet, and I dabble in Spoken Word from time to time. In resent years, I have adopted a new love into my life....You've guessed it, IT'S HAIR! Because of my love for Natural Hair Care and Braiding, Chi Chi Sophistication was born...My Motto is, 'Planting Seeds of self-love and acceptance while providing the hair with proper care'."

ChiChi Sophistication is another blog that I found when I first started researching natural hair. Keianna "KeeKeeAllNatural" is a wife and mother, who started out by sharing her natural hair journey on her blog, in which her personality shines and her smile becomes infectious. She later decided to pursue her love for natural hair by attending Madam Walker's Braids, Lockery & School and incorporated her love for children and her passion for natural hair together.

With advanced certifications in braiding and locking, KeeKee now specializes in natural hair care and braiding for children at her salon Chi Chi Sophistication Natural Hair Care Studio in the Washington-Metropolitan area. Keianna is a contributor to the online children's natural hair resource Our Natural Kids and also the Regional Coordinator of the Washington, DC area online resource/support for Natural Hair Stylist & Braiders, E-Natural/E-Braiding Company.

Chi Chi Sophistication Hair Studio is on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. You can also follow KeeKee's journey as a Natural Hair Stylist at Diary of a Budding Stylist.

3. UNTRAINED HAIR MOM
"My goal is to create a healthier home environment for my family, by replacing our chemical fill products with natural ingredients. I love to share what I learn about natural and green living by providing household tips, natural remedies and recipes, natural, kid-friendly, family-oriented product reviews and fun giveaways of these Eco-friendly products!"
Untrained Hair Mom is a positive resource for mothers who are not only looking for tips on how to care for their child(ren)'s natural hair, but also for those moms who are more specifically concerned with using greener, healthier alternatives for their child's hair care.

Brooke, the creator of Untrained Hair Mom is a mother to "D" and "Baby Boy," and started blogging by documenting the trials and tribulations of learning to care for her own children's hair. With hopes of inspiring others, Brooke shares her children's hair styles step-by-step, various resources, product reviews and fabulous giveaways.
Untrained Hair Mom is also on Facebook and Twitter.
4. CHOCOLATE HAIR, VANILLA CARE

As the adoptive mother to a biracial daughter, Rory's goal of crating her site was to document the journey of her learning how to care for her child's naturally kinky-curly hair texture. She is a self-proclaimed former "motorcycle riding tomboy", who learned that naturally kinky and curly hair textures are easier to maintain than some would think. In addition to writing about natural hair care, Rory also touches on topics of family life, trans-racial adoption and foster parenting.

Chocolate Hair, Vanilla Care is on Facebook, Twitter and also has a YouTube channel.
