4 Natural Ways To Remove Pigmentation & Dark Spots

In this article, we will talk about Pigmentation which is also known as brown patches or dark spots.

First of all, let's see what is Pigmentation? These are the black spots on your skin that occur due to an increase in the melanin production in the skin. Melanin is a pigment that gives color to the skin. The more the melanin quantity is, the darker your skin will be, less the melanin is, the lighter will be your skin tone. 

Pigmentation is not harmful but it affects your confidence level. Pigmentation is of 2 types: 

1) Hyperpigmentation 

2) Hypopigmentation 

Hyperpigmentation is an increase in the quantity of melanin production resulting in the blackening of the skin. Hyperpigmentation also occurs if you are not using sunscreen and your skin is exposed to the sun. The example of hyperpigmentation is Melasma. 

Hypopigmentation is the decrease in the quantity of Melanin which results in white spots on the skin. whereas hyperpigmentation results in dark spots. 

Now let's see the reasons behind the Pigmentation It may occur due to: 

Hormonal Imbalance, Allergic reaction of some Medicine resulting in pigmentation, During Pregnancy, Dehydration, Bad Food Choices like sugary items & bad carbs, etc. Not using Sunscreen before going out. 

Now let's talk about the Treatment of Pigmentation. The treatments I am going to tell you in this article will be home-based and time taking as pigmentation does not occur in a single day, hence its treatment will also take some time to be resolved. Clinically it can be treated by LASER, CHEMICAL PEELING, or DERMABRASION. which is expensive and is not affordable for everyone. So the home remedies I am going to tell you in this article will help in quick results. 

In Asian countries like Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh the biggest Culprit are "Whitening Creams" which are full of Steroids. The harmful chemicals in these creams start "Thinning your Skin", and the time comes when it starts damaging your skin hence resulting in brown patches and dark spots on your skin. So First of all, avoid using these "Whitening Creams" BUT REMEMBER, Do not stop using these creams instantly, instead, if you are using it twice a day, start using it once a day and if you are applying it once a day, start using it 2 or 3 times in a week and so on. 

Do not go out without applying sunscreen on your skin whatever the weather is. And yes, apply sunscreen at day time, not night time. 

Thirdly, Consult your doctor if some medicine is resulting in pigmentation. Increase your Water Intake, Include Vegetables and fresh fruits in your food because your internal health is also important as your external one. If your internal system is full of impurities, you will never get the results on your external skin. so don't forget to drink "Detox Water". I will suggest you Consult your Dermatologist for the quick results. and follow the treatment prescribed by your Dermatologist. "Dermaroller" is also effective and gives quick results. Dermaroller can be used by anyone but some people are afraid of using it. 

Now I am going to tell you the home remedy to treat Pigmentation. By using these four ingredients which are easily available at your home and if not, you may buy them easily. 

  1. The 1st Ingredient is "Castor Oil". CASTOR OIL helps to control excess production of Melanin in your skin results in the removal of pigmentation and dark spots. The method to use castor oil is, take a little amount of CASTOR OIL on a cotton bud and apply it on the pigmented or dark-spotted areas in dabbing motion. Apply it 2 times in a day and no need to wash it off. The skin will absorb the Oil and you may see the results in few days. 
  2. The 2nd effective remedy is the use of "Potato Juice" Take 1 Potato, grate it and then squeeze it and you will get potato juice. Take 2tablespoon of Potato Juice and 1tablespoon of Lemon Juice. Mix it well and apply it once on the pigmented areas or you may apply it on a full face. Leave it on for 20- 30mins on your skin and wash it off. You have to do this every day without giving a gap. Potato juice has got skin lightening properties and it consists of minerals and vitamins which remove dark spots, pigmentation, and blemishes. 
  3. The 3rd remedy is "Apple Cider Vinegar" (ACV) Take 1tablespoon of ACV and 2 tablespoons of water. Mix it well and apply it on the pigmented areas. Repeat this remedy every day once. You may also put it in a spray bottle and use it as a toner. Spray this toner on your face and it will reduce other skin issues as well rather than Pigmentation. 
  4. The 4th remedy is the use of "VITAMIN C" & E" SERUM. These both serums are very effective for your dark spots, pigmentation, and skin lightening. I'd recommend you to buy the serum which has both Vitamin E and Vitamin C. 
For e.g, the "OZNaturals" serum has both Vitamins in it. But if you don't have a serum with both vitamins then simply take a Vitamin C serum of any brand and apply it on your face, and after the Vitamin C serum absorbs in your skin take Vitamin E oil (EVION) rub it between your hands and apply it on your face in dabbing motion. So by doing this your skin will get the effects of both Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
