30 Day Squat Challenge – Final Update

By Beautybykaris @beautybykaris

Hey there,

My regular readers will know that in March, (Well my first attempt was February, actually), I decided to take up the Squat challenge, in hope for a bigger and better booty… OK! So I didn’t expect it to turn into Kim K’s booty over night, (Or even in the 30 days), but I was hoping to see some improvement.

I think my ‘flat bum’ runs in the family, it is rather wide, (But that is because – at the moment – I am wide in general), I would like my bum to be more round, (You know like the perfect bum photos you see… Everywhere), don’t all us girls want that?

Having seen A LOT of squat pictures, with quotes and those girls with the ‘perfect’ bum, and genuinely enjoying the squat exercise, I thought I would give the 30 day challenge a try.

Overall, I had fun doing and completing the squat challenge, (And a challenge it was), it wasnt the movement or the quantity I found hard, it was remembering to do it, and spacing them out enough through the day… Many a time, I had to jump out of bed and do over 50 squats, that I had forgotten to do. It wasn’t exactly something I was happy to get out of bed for.

But has it worked?… Well, I can actually feel more of a difference in my bum and legs, but I can’t see it, (If that even makes sense), like I don’t think its noticeable. I definitely want to incorporate more squats in to my gym routine, and of course I think it will have more of an effect with added weight, I think it’s a great way to introduce a core exercise in to your daily life.

My boyfriend (Who is a PT, and competitive power lifter), has told me that I need to introduce other exercises to work my bum, this includes lunges, and glute bridges. Squats mainly work the glutes (Bum), quads and hamstrings, but in order to work out the glutes efficiently, glute bridges and lunges should be done in addition to squats, to see a more noticeable change. If done first, glute activation will be better in the squat, (As told by my PT boyfriend, BHStrentgh&Nutrition).

My next fitness plan of action is to follow my new programme from BHstrength&Nutrition, this time actually taking before and after photos to compare. I would like to attempt another 30 day challenge. I’m tempted to do the Abs one, but I hate doing abs, it just hurts sooo much, (And I can’t laugh or sneeze the next day), Any you would recommend?

HAVE YOU DONE THE 30 DAY SQUAT CHALLENGE?

WHAT FITNESS CHALLENGE HAVE YOU DONE?
