If you are looking for affordable and yet tasty Italian cuisine, I will recommend Concetto by Saveur that replaces the former premises of Billy Bombers at The Cathay. Chef Joshua Khoo and Chef Dylan Ong from Saveur (specializes in French cuisine) had decided to bring on a new offering of Italian dishes to everyone by opening Concetto. One of my girlfriends had recommended us this restaurant and suggested Concetto for our dinner gathering. Luckily we had make reservation for the dinner as I can see queue forming outside the restaurant around 6.30pm on a Saturday evening.
The design of the restaurant is simplistic and modern with an open concept kitchen.
Here are what we had ordered that day:
Grilled Octopus $10.90
Appetizer to kick start before our main course.Fresh grill octopus with Fennel salad and anchovy dressing. Vibrant food colour presentation and freshly grilled octopus!
Crab Risotto $12.90
Crab Risotto with real crab meat and crispy rice crackers. I was looking around on what others had ordered and realised most had ordered the crab risotto. This dish is one of the popular dishes. Love the texture of the risotto and it was not too watery.
Salmon $15.90
The colour combination of the Salmon dish makes the food look so appealing. Not just visually attractive, the salmon is fresh and it goes well with the Parma ham, pea ragu & bonito oil. So healthy, green and tasty!
Pumpkin Fattottini $7.90
This dish is pretty interesting as it is kind of sweet for a main course. Guess I am used to having savoury food as my main dish. Lots of pumpkin filling and it is quite filling having a few of it. The crispy almond slice and raisins give the dish more texture. Order this if you are a lover of pumpkin.
Duck Tortellini $12.90
Look at the foam, it is actually parmesan emulsion that goes will poached egg and sauteed buttered potato slices. The ingredients goes well with the duck tortellini. The duck meat filling is rich and I guess duck meat lover will like this dish.
Clam $11.90
Look at the generous amount of clams used in this dish.Instead of the usual spaghetti, the restaurant uses Tagliolini as pasta for this dish. Tagliolini are long flat ribbons traditional type of pasta from Emilia-Romagna and Marche, regions of Italy. It is quite similar in shape to fettuccine. The clams are cooked in white wine and I love the subtle colour and sweetness of the clam juice that add flavour to the dish.
