The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a two-page advisory on Thursday, that the zoom app is not safe and government officials should not use it for official work. The Cyber Coordination Center (Psychord) of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued this warning in a consultation.
Earlier this warning was issued by the Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In). A statement from the ministry said that this platform should not be used by government officials for official work.
Zoom became a popular platform for officers working from home during a nationwide lockdown announced by the central government to control the corona virus epidemic.
The ministry said that the document mentions previously issued consultations by Cert-In. It states that zoom is not a secure platform. These instructions have been issued to protect those who still use this platform for personal purposes.
An official said that businessmen or government officials should avoid using it. The Cyber Security Agency of India had already made users aware of the breach in this video conferencing app.
These guidelines have been issued following complaints of password leaks and hackers hijacking during video call conferences.
As per some reports, details of Zoom users have been leaked on dark web and is available for sell.
