Zermatt & Roma - Days 5 & 6 European Vaca.

first off, i hope that anyone who is on the east coast is staying safe. we received some pretty strong winds and rain last night and first thing this morning. jeremy was also called to be on stand-by for the state for relief assistance. we're still not sure whether or not he'll be heading out for 7-10 days or coming home! our thoughts to those who were effected by the storm.
now on to more of my vacation. day 5 was the last day in switzerland for my mom and me. our group of six, caught the train bright and early and made our way to zermatt to see the mattahorn. unfortunely, it was rainy and cloudy so we were unable to view the mattahorn. of course the cloud cover was really only around the mattahorn. we spent our time walking around the town. the smell of the pastries and food cooking was amazing here. i wanted to stop at every place and try everything :) even though we were unable to view the mattahorn, we still took a train up to the top and took some amazing pictures! oh and where i ate lunch, they were the only place in switzerland we went to that served ice in their drinks!
day 6 my mom and i took a 7 hour train ride into rome. what a change in temperature and pace. we went from laid back pace and fall like weather to city living and summer temps! we spent the afternoon/evening walking around the city. our hotel was just around the corner from the spanish steps and not a far walk to the trevi fountain. i wish i had read up a little more because a lot of the building and ruins that we saw, i had no idea what i was looking at. oh well, you live and you learn!
