Yves Saint Laurent | Style Is Eternal

By Hellofreckles @tashajsteel
Yesterday I was one of the first to see the incredible Yves Saint Laurent Style Is Eternal exhibition at The Bowes Museum. Here's my sneak preview of what to expect and for those who can't make it up to the North East, it's a closer look at some key pieces.
Style Is Eternal is the first YSL retrospective to take place in the UK and to see it at The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, really is quite exciting. The location is great, an impressive French chateau created in the late 19th century and this exhibition may just be the biggest feature to date.Yves Saint Laurent once said 'Fashion fades, style is eternal' and the exhibition, spanning much of the first floor, focuses on this concept showing over fifty pieces from the extensive collection and celebrates the fantastic, timeless couturier he was. It really is an incredible homage to Saint Laurent.
Style Is Eternal explores five specific themes; Haute Couture, Masculin - Feminin, Transparence, Art and Spectaculaire with famous garments from each included in the display, some of which are true exclusives, like the pink Dior dress in Haute Couture. Alongside these themes there's incredibly detailed sketches and mood boards on display for the first time and interactive installations to view.Style Is Eternal runs from 11th July to 25th October and tickets should be booked online before your visit (this allows optimum viewing so it's not overcrowded and you can fully experience the collection) For further information and to book tickets visit The Bowes Museum website.
Will you be going to see Style Is Eternal?
