Yuga Labs is Launching Bitcoin Ordinals NFT Collection

The attraction of Ordinals Inscriptions, the latest recent trend to sweep the NFT world, can no longer be contested. Yuga Labs, a prominent Web3 power player, has declared its intention to reach the same market segment as both new and established creators (despite the concerns of crypto maximalists that Bitcoin NFTs are straining the world’s oldest blockchain).

Yuga Labs, the creators of the massively popular Bored Ape Yacht Club, released a brand-new experimental NFT collection titled “TwelveFold” on February 27. The new project, which was briefly teased to on Twitter, would contain no more than 300 pieces and will be considerably more restricted than the expansive Yuga ecosystem. It is also important to note that the collection will not interact with or be related to any existing or future Ethereum-based Yuga projects.

In contrast to past Yuga projects, the TwelveFold collection’s pieces were created internally by Yuga Labs’ art team employing 3D modeling, algorithmic construction, and best rendering techniques. According to Yuga, these rendering techniques give greater outputs, which are often expensive to create and need a massive quantity of data storage. Yet, it appears that Yuga has overcome these storage and financial constraints by utilizing Ordinals Inscriptions.

According to Yuga, TwelveFold is a “base 12 art system based on a 1212 grid.” The collection will include both finely rendered 3D elements and hand-drawn pieces that pay homage to the majority of extant Ordinal Inscriptions, which are currently created by hand. It is regarded as a visual metaphor for the mapping of Bitcoin blockchain data.

Due to the high-profile nature of this release and the limited quantity of pieces available, TwelveFold will be made available in an auction-style environment, with all bids being made in Bitcoin. To participate, bidders will need a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet and an empty Bitcoin address to receive a piece if their bid is successful.

Yuga Labs will make announcements regarding the schedule of the auction 24 hours prior to the drop on its news site and social media platforms. The TwelveFold website provides users with additional information on the project. Yuga suggests that readers familiarize themselves with this guidance in order to prepare for the auction by studying Ordinals Inscriptions.
