Everyone hates me when I talk about this, but I don’t do audio books. I’ve tried them and I can’t focus on listening. But to your question: Does listening to one “count” as reading? It certainly counts as listening. If I sat down next to you and read To Kill A Mockingbird out loud, would you say you had read it?
