Here's the scenario...
You just got home from work; made yourself something to eat, and finally now have the time to put your tired feet up and relax. You've dreamed about this all day; about a quiet night in front of the television watching DWTS (substitute your favorite show) because tonight you're home alone , so you finally get the chance to do it. After watching a little TV, you know you'll be sleepy so it will be off to bed you'll go.
Dog tired from an exhaustive week of meetings and travel for work, when you returned you didn't notice your roommates car was in the parking lot when you pulled into the complex where you live. After the long flight you were on, you probably wouldn't have noticed her car if was in the garage, for that matter -- you're just that tired. You're ready to change clothes, grab some food, watch a little mindless TV and soon after, retire to bed.
Unfortunately, now that you see what you see you realized in that very instant, that's not going to happen. Just as you turned around from the stove, you saw her coming toward the door. Through the window, you saw her with five other people in tow. There goes your solitude for the evening. Right. Out. The. Window. Drat.
You notice that everyone is walking along, talking and laughing, carrying a grocery store bag or two. And a couple of the guys are carrying a heavier item, which looks like they're each carrying a box of bottles of wine. Now what you've been looking at has actually hit you; they're having some kind of gathering. No they're not. Great (not!), your roommate is having a party and you don't want to be invited.
That's not fair, you say out loud, seconds before she puts her key in the door and turns the knob to let she and her "party friends" in the house. Get ready to put your fake smile on... or not.
What would you do?
As always, it's good to hear from you.
What's your advice? Would you be gracious and kind about it? Or, would you "nut up" and cuss everyone out, then retreat to your room, slamming the door behind you?
I wonder how most of you would deal with this kind of situation? Passive-aggressively? Or, with straight out aggression?
Leave a comment and share how you'd feel below. Oh by the way, has this ever happened to you? I forgot to ask. Share your candid opinions.
I appreciate you!
