Your Questions, Answered

By Winyeemichelle

You asked - I answered. Are you at University?
Nope, sadly not! I graduated in 2012 with a First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Writing Fashion and Culture. Since then I’ve been working non-stop. I visit my best friend who still lives in my old student city a LOT though.
You’re moving to Hong Kong! Where are you going to be living?
I sure am. I’m seriously lucky in that I’m actually moving to our family apartment over in Hong Kong. So I won’t be homeless or a full-time hotel resident sadly! I’m a fully fledged HKID holder and I’m going to be based in around the Tsuen Wan district when I finally get over there.
What are you going to do in Hong Kong?
Just to be as transparent as possible as I always get asked about what I do: I’ve landed myself a job in the Content team at Lane Crawford’s head office. Pretty dreamy, eh?
What is your job now?
Contrary to popular belief, I’m not a full-time blogger, sob sob. While I always say ‘never say never’, I haven’t ever been a pro blogger to date. Currently I’m a content girl at F&F and before that I freelanced in all sorts - editorial, social media consultancy, community management, copywriting, online retail. Everything!
If you had a super power, what would it be and why?
100% to have the power to Apparate/Disapparate. Like, I could commute to work in less than 1 second. I could get to the beach in moments. It’d be so handy, time-saving and you would rarely be in a bad mood unless you got Splinched…
Name someone who has influenced you and how. Excluding friends and family.
Wow this is hard! Can I be a cheeseball and say Taylor Swift? I've always resonated with how defiant and determined she is with her life, career and choices in the face of everyone turning her down before she got a record deal and while everyone instantly shuns her for being boy-crazy or desperate. She's a tough cookie and I like that.
When people move they often think about the things they're going to miss, but my question is what (if anything) are you glad to be getting away from when you move to HK?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot now that I have less than a month until I go. I’m glad to be getting away from little places in my hometown that remind me of a best friend I no longer speak to. You know that awful feeling when you can’t remember what a place was like before them? THAT.
Will you still blog when you move?
Of course! I’ll be blogging just as I do now - only with a beautiful new backdrop, new material and hopefully a new photographer?!
How difficult was it to make the decision to move to Hong Kong?
Put it this way: I cried on and off for about 6 days straight when contemplating my move. My pros and cons lists charted about 4 pages and included things as detailed as ‘Might not be able to have poached eggs for breakfast.’ I digress. I might speak about this in more depth in another post, but it was the most difficult yet the easiest decision to make all at once.
How are Bertle and Eric doing?
They're really good, thank you for asking! (FYI, Bertle and Eric are my baby Russian tortoises.) They're now 1 year old each and I've had them for 7 months. Both are getting really big and I'm simply the proudest tortoise Mama. Bertle is the bigger of the two and is a little more feisty, more adventurous, greedier - she loves kale, daisies and strawberries! - and tends to get herself in sticky situations several times a day. Eric is meeker, a tiny little shelled kid with a penchant for his dry food pellets. They adore their little home and I recently upgraded their sleeping huts to a larger one so they can sleep comfortably, and they've got brand new food and water bowls too.
When are you moving and how long will you be gone?
I’m moving at the end of October. It’s really soon, I know. I’ve given myself a minimum stipulation of a year and we shall see from there! ^_^
How on Earth do you get time to work, blog and be a human?
I can only speculate whether I am actually a human or not. More details here ;)
What is your skincare secret?
Drink lots of water. Have tea tree oil blend on hand. The Laneige Water Sleeping Pack is a godsend.
