The powdered wig and revolutionary garb featured in You Won’t’s new video for “Ya Ya Ya” may not make sense on the surface, but when you consider their sophomore album title, Revolutionaries, the odd theme feels a little more straightforward. Raky Sastri’s dejected Santacon costume, though, never really ties itself back in…
Ripe with sweet (and weird) dance moves from Josh Arnoudse, the video strangely illustrates the song’s progression from simple, warm guitar strums and sleigh bells to a lush folk track filled with perfectly timed flourishes. The slightly off-kilter bridge and big harmonious finish are also oddly and perfectly translated with an angry striptease(?) from Arnoudse and shots of the duo spinning around each other. “Ya Ya Ya” and other highly anticipated tracks will be on Revolutionaries, out April 29 via Extraneous Music/Meddling Kids.
