You Think You Would Know More Going On 50

Know More Going On 50?

So you would think you would know more as you get to the age of 50? Ever here the phrase “The more you know, the more you need to learn.” It’s really true. As I head into the final months before turning 50 there is so much more I want to know.

  • How long do we really have left? Will it go by even faster than the first 50 years have?
  • Will we feel different the 2nd half?
  • Will we know the answers to many questions as we reach 50? NO guessing but just know the answers to life’s mysteries?
  • Will we still feel the same as we always have or will pains begin here and there?
  • Will we start to look old? What does 50 really look like today?
  • Is it too late to learn another language?
  • Can we learn to something new like advanced HTML this year?
  • Could we watch Jeopardy and know more of the answers?
  • Why do people do that _____? Will we understand people better as we get older?
  • Will anything shock us anymore or have we seen it all already?

Fast Paced World Today

Of course life today is so fast paced if we are not constantly learning we are falling behind. How many people at the age of 50 rely on their kids to help them with technology? Just to turn on our TV’s is not easy feat like it once was. Everything we do is more complicated. We have to remember so many passwords. Even our computers have gotten more complicated over time. Just when we learn how to use them, they change the interfaces. Everything changes at the speed of light today so going on 50 we have to change along with it. Or we will be left behind. I have many friends near my age that do not have children. They will have to learn the technology or be left to fend for themselves in the coming years.

Some Things Never Change

The things we really want to know about the remainder of our lives has always entered people’s minds around the age of 50. It used to be the age of the “mid-life crisis” where one reverts to acting like a teenager all over again. We fear we will become old quickly and want to live out our bucket lists before getting sick or elderly. Now that the new 50 is the old 40, will it make a difference? Will we not hit our mid life crisis til we reach 60?

“It’s paradoxical that the idea of living a long life appeals to everyone, but the idea of getting old doesn’t appeal to anyone.”
― Andy Rooney

Days Gone By

As we head into 50 will we have more days gone by us. How will we cope with that? Some friends of mine have already lost their parents and other members of their family. They have to still live life and move on.  It’s something we will have to face as we get older. It’s all in how we cope with that can effect our aging process and attitude.

So if you are over 50 do you feel you know more today than ever before or less?

Are you still learning new things often?

If you are nowhere near 50 does 50 sound old to you?
