Story: You’re Next starts when a new victim Sandra (Baillie) escapes a serial killer the police believe is Xavier Knight (Sirkissoon). Detective Khumalo (Cele) turns to his experienced retired Detective Khan (Singh). Khan had previously stopped the most notorious serial killer the Night Stalker.

This leads to a flashback of what happened to Brandon (Leven). As we follow Brandon looking to get his influencer pay check in a remote abandoned building. Sandra leads another group of influencers as they search for answers before running into the horrors of the area.

Verdict on You’re Next

You’re Next is a crime horror thriller following a detective trying to solve a series of murders behind a group of influencers. However, when one person survives, the detective brings back one of the best minds in the force to help him solve the case.

This is a movie that looks to mix a slasher formula, with a more natural crime case. It does a great job of keeping us guessing as well as leaving us shocked. There are parts of the movie that feel broken down more than they need to, which feels like it is designed to try and build up a case outside of the events. In a strange way, it is like ‘Saw’ where we see the game being played as well as the detective trying to solve everything.  Overall, this is a good mystery and because it leaves you shocked, it is well worth a watch,

Final ThoughtsYou’re Next keeps you guessing till the final reveal.
