If you don’t know Anthony D’Amato already, then you should probably to pay attention. He’s been compared to Springsteen, and being from Jersey, owns up to being greatly influenced by The Boss. You can definitely hear a bit of Bruce in the way that D’Amato composes his songs (he even jumps on the harmonica). However, we think he’s talented enough to take the spotlight for himself — Anthony D’Amato writes clever lyrics (after all, he did study with a Pulitzer Prize winning poet), and the combination of his vocals and arrangements is both soothing and exciting. His albums have a dynamic mixture of delicate and upbeat songs, each inspiring us with curiosity and the desire to hear more. “Back Back Back”, a highlight from his newest record, The Shipwreck from the Shore, starts with a quick tempo, heads into a simple chorus and takes a turn for the even-better after the first break. When the horns come in, you’ll already be hooked. Listen and enjoy above!
