Yonge Piggies, G/F, 1 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. Sometimes in life you just need to indulge in fast food at it's finest and Yonge Piggies ticked that box right off. A few weeks ago, Sophia and I came across this hot dog place, literally a hole-in-the-wall establishment with about 8 seats and a small but still-good menu.
Yonge Piggies focuses solely on the humble hot dog, a 'food staple of Toronto culinary culture'. Imported sausages and a chargrilled method leaves their dogs crisp and crunchy, and following my brief but intense love affair with Coffee Dogs in London, I just had to try it.
I chose the Honey Garlic dog with sautéed onions, sauerkraut, mustard and ketchup. An oldie but a goodie. Sophia opted for the Hickory Smoked which she can confirm was 'good but interesting', so make of that what you will! I really enjoyed my dog actually, it wasn't too greasy but it was greasy enough to feel that you'd done a good-but-bad food deed and would certainly make a delightful pre-night out bite.
