By Ty Watson

Everyone loves cake, right? I mean, really! What's not to LOVE about cake? It's soft, it's sweet and it's oh-so delicious! So, lets forget all about your strict diet for a minute, shall we? You totally deserve to treat your taste buds to something scrumptious and satisfying this Christmas, right? So, why not treat yourself (and your taste buds) to some cake? You've worked so hard this year and now it's time to reward yourself! So, what the heck are y'all waiting for? The fork? The plate? Oh yeah! You're waiting for the Christmas cake recipe, right? Um...silly me!

If you're looking for a toothsome (and beautiful) cake recipe, you've definitely come to the right place. As today, we're going to hook y'all up! There's nothing really special about this cake (except for the velvety vanilla buttercream frosting and the festive holiday decorations). But, it's SUPER fun to make and it's a whole lot cheaper than buying a store bought cake. Um, let's get started, shall we?

YELLOW CAKE WITH VELVETY VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

The Cake (It's Super Simple)

2 packages Betty Crocker Supermoist Cake Mix, Yellow
6 large eggs, room temperature
2 sticks Challenge Unsalted Butter, room temperature
2 cups hot water

THE DECORATIONS (YOU CAN USE WHATEVER CANDY YOU LIKE, OF COURSE!).

Galerie Reindeer Holiday Gift Candy Dispenser (can be found at Walmart)
2 8-ounce bags Red Vines Jumbo Red Twists (cut in-half)
1 Hershey's Kisses Milk Chocolates Candies Filled Cane
Wilton Holiday Sprinkles (White, green and red)
Holiday Ribbon, your choice of color.

THE VELVETY VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING (OH YEAH, BABY)

I WISH I could take credit for this delicious frosting (It's SO freaking GOOD). But, the wonderful ladies over at the Frosting Queens are responsible for this rich and creamy, ready to use frosting. Can you believe it's made with all natural ingredients, and real BUTTER. Yummy, right?

HOW TO MAKE:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, yellow cake mix, eggs and hot water (please make each cake mix separately, for the best results). Mix on medium speed, until nice and creamy, this should take approximately 2 minutes on a medium speed (don't over-beat your mix)

IT'S OVEN TIME, BABY!

Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease and flour two 9″ cake pans. Pour your cake mix evenly into your cake pan, making sure to scrape all cake mix from your mixing bowl. Bake at approximately 28 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean, meaning NO signs of batter. After the cake has finished baking, cool on wire rack (or cookie sheet) for 10 to 20 minutes, then remove your cake from the pan/s. Once completely cooled frost the top of your cake with the Velvety Vanilla Buttercream Frosting (I didn't have enough frosting for the sides, so I just did the top); Take the red vines and stand them up against the cake, then wrap with the holiday ribbon. (you can seal the RIBBON only with hot glue, or you can create a bow). Then decorate your cake with the sprinkles, reindeer and Hershey's Kisses Milk Chocolates Candies. You're all done! Easy peasy, right?

HERE'S MORE PHOTOS OF THE CAKE! CUTE, RIGHT?
