Wymond Miles – “Passion Plays”

Wymond Miles is best known as the guitarist for San Francisco garage pop act The Fresh and Onlys, though with a follow up to last year’s Under the Pale Moon already set for release perhaps this will change. “Passion Plays” is distinctly reminiscent of Turn on the Bright Lights era Interpol (and let’s be real: that’s the only Interpol you really want to sound like), especially fan favorite “Roland.” Miles’ voice is haunted, agonized even, and the mood of “Passion Plays” could perhaps best be described as pop contemplative. The song’s minimal presentation is a handsome step away from Miles’ earlier work, all signs pointing to the crooning bombast of Nick Cave as spiritual ancestor.

Cut Yourself Free will be available on Sacred Bones October 15.
