This old post office still has many features that hark back to its more utilitarian past, my favorite of which are the huge cast iron radiators that were belting out the heat the evening we were there. The whole place though has been craftily decorated, from the heavy brocade curtains covering the door to the doggie pictures and statues. Truth be told, if the food hadn't been so good, I'd have complained that it was trying to be too cool!
Deliciously gooey Camembert.
The goat's cheese in this dish was really creamy and decadent. Perfect contrast for the beets.
For starters he had the baked Camembert while I went for the whipped goat's cheese with beets. There wasn't much in it but I think he made the better choice! The chucks of Camembert were oozy warm and gloppy, probably artery clogging but definitely satisfying! The accompanying relish went a long way to providing a nice tart contrast. The ingredients of my goat's cheese salad were super fresh and while they were a touch on the cold side you could still tell the flavours went perfectly together.
Juicy chicken on a bed of mustard mash.
He followed up with a roast chicken breast on a bed of wholegrain mustard mash with a red wine jus. (the dish is supposed to come with mushrooms but himself has a "mushroom allergy"... I know ... grrr!) Part of the reason I don't really like chicken is because you often get it served up so dry that it's unpalatable. This one was exceptionally juicy though! Overall a very satisfying dish.
Perfectly cooked salmon.
I went for the salmon with roast baby potatoes and pea puree. It wasn't a hugely innovative dish but it was proper comfort food cooked well and presented smartly. The dish was really well seasoned right down to the lovely salty flavor of the skin on the salmon. It was a perfect dish for the cold winters day that we visited on.
The chocolaty brownie was perfect with the fruity topping!
Caramel biscuit cake.
Sometimes you want something sweet after a meal, but nothing too big, here they have the perfect answer with their mini desserts consisting of small slices of cake and other sweet things (they also have a normal dessert menu). We opted for a brownie and a slice of biscuit cake. Both were delicious and just the right size to finish the meal off but not make us too full!

Wuff is a wonderful neighbourhood bistro, the kind of place where, after a while, I imagine the staff remember your name. They all seemed lovely and enthusiastic, even sharing their favorite Spotify playlist with us! With so many wonderful eateries in the city center we still lack places with a local feel and thankfully Wuff is, paws down, filling this gap handsomely!
