Writing, how is that possible aren’t you an accountant? Yes, writing is possible and yes, I am a Certified Public Accountant. I write all the time.
Writing for me has been a pleasurable activity since I was young. My Grandparents both kept daily journals, at the time I thought they were silly that is until both of them past away. Now their journals are some of the cherished possessions they left behind. They wrote about the weather, what they ate or who stopped by. But they wrote – every day. So did I, until college when life became too busy.
In college I took a creative writing class that became my eye opener! The professor often had us take a blank sheet of paper and write down what was in our heads – huh? I would ask myself is the professor serious….he was. Because I love music, music was often in my head. Rhythms, lyrics and the feelings remaining with you after you hear a song. So I’d write quite often about music - Spanish music of all things! I took a Spanish class each semester, and this particular semester one class was on Spanish music.
For me it was easy, Spanish was easy and I could think in the Spanish language yet appreciate the Spanish style of music I listened to at the time. So in creative writing, my writing was often about passionate feelings of sorrow, or love and sometimes just topics of the Spanish songs I had stuck in my head. To write freely opened my mind, it made me vulnerable to criticism, it made me smile. I was inspired.
Writing is easy, you need to just find the flow. Seek inspiration, sometimes the inspiration will surprise you.
