1) Where do you live now and where were you born?
I live in Ann Arbor, MI and I was born in Alexandria, VA.
2) What are your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy going to concerts, riding my bike, drinking beer, being outside, playing frisbee, and reading.
3) Was there a specific time in your life when you realized environmentalism, going-green, sustainability were very important to you?
I kind of had a reverse reckoning. I spent a semester in undergraduate in India studying development and gender issues and I found the American version of environmentalism out of touch with the immediate challenges of much of the world, particularly the poor. Since then, I have been inspired to ensure that environmentalism and sustainability are equally as committed to poor people as they are to the earth.
4) Do you have a favorite green product or company? What area of sustainability do you find most interesting?
I love the explosion of car and bike share companies. Transportation is both a key driver of pollution and a key aspect of every person’s quality of life. Smart transportation investments are key to my passions, social equity and sustainability.
5) Do you have a favorite quote?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
