Today we continue posting various trivia and tidbits about the people that bring you news, analysis, and opinion by shining the spotlight on another one of our writers, Nick Grue. The first half of his answers to the questionnaire that was given to all the writers at 2nd Green Revolution can be found below. We think this spotlight feature will give you a chance to get to know our writers better and bring a little variation to the content on the website.

Nick has written about Hurricane Sandy, Mini Nuclear Plants, Energy Units, and more, always using clear prose to frame his thoughts and insights. All of his posts can be read at his URL tag:

Take it away, Nick!

1)   Where do you live now and where were you born?

I live in Denver, CO but was born in Chicago, IL.

2)   What are your favorite hobbies?

I run the most, but enjoy mountain biking and reading, as well.

3)   Was there a specific time in your life when you realized environmentalism, going-green, sustainability were very important to you?

While I was in the Marine Corps, I was stationed at a base next to a world famous rock climbing destination, Joshua Tree, California. I began climbing to pass the time, and through that simple activity I began to pay more attention to the environment and my interest in sustainability snowballed from there.

4)   Do you have a favorite green product or company? What area of sustainability do you find most interesting?

I am interested in all businesses working on renewable energy. I keep close tabs on companies like SunPower and SolarCity. As you can tell, I am most interested in renewable energy when it comes to sustainability topics. Energy plays such an integral role in our daily lives, yet most people hardly even think about it. Energy generation is also a key player in climate change, so if energy can be generated in a way that doesn’t produce greenhouse gas emissions, I believe the fight against climate change would already be half won.
