Design - study and appeal
The Mivi DuoPods M80 TWS earphones feature a stunning design and what makes it even more attractive is its build quality. The headphones have a perfect shape for a perfect fit and the case is stylish and can be easily carried in the pocket. The way the earbuds fit into the case is quite unique yet easy.
The headphones come with removable stability gels to improve grip and comfort during prolonged wear and activities requiring body movement. To indicate the battery level, the charging case comes with 5 LED lights.
Despite its plastic construction, the charging case as well as the headphones exude a premium quality.
Comfort - Perfect for gym goers and travelers
Mivi designed the DuoPods M80 TWS earphones with a wide range of audiences in mind. The headphones provide a snug fit and a high level of comfort during exercise, brisk walking and traveling.
If you can't wait to buy headphones for the gym, you can easily go for DuoPods M80 as it comes with IPX 4.0 rating to make it sweat resistant. These are comfortable even for prolonged use; I did not experience any irritation or inconvenience even using them for 3 consecutive hours.
Sound quality - Decent performance and rich bass
Coming to the most important parameter - sound quality. Mivi DuoPods M80 comes with good bass and great treble. The mids and lows are crisp and clear. The sound performance of the DuoPod M80s is suitable for heavy bass music, rock and hip hop.
Therefore, listening to instrumental music in these headphones will not be a very pleasant experience. I have also used Realme Buds in the past and the Mivi DuoPods M80 offers almost richer sound than the old one.
However, there is still room for improvement as the sound quality is not comparable to that of the OnePlus Buds and other high-end headphones including Apple AirPods and Jabra Elite 75t.
If you are a gamer, the M80 offers extremely low latency and there was no audio lag in the game when playing PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile with them.
Battery Performance - Impressive
Mivi DuoPod M80 offers around 26-28 hours of battery life in total when used with the case. Each earbud comes equipped with a 50mAh battery providing 3 hours of playtime and the case provides an additional 23-24 hours of juice.
With Type-C charging port, it is easy to charge the earphones. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours for these to charge from 0 to 100%. Mivi claims that the M80 DuoPods has the most powerful battery, among any TWS on the market.
Caveats - Extremely sensitive to touch, subpar call quality, no volume controls
Not all products are perfect and the Mivi DuoPods M80 are no exception. One of the major issues that I have found with the headphones is that they are extremely sensitive to touch. I felt phantom touches even when I was not touching the headphones.
The music stopped playing several times because of these unwarranted touches. This can be a problem if you plan to excessively watch a movie while lying down, because as soon as you turn to your side, chances are the playback will stop. However, I think this could be fixed with a software update to reduce the touch sensitivity of the headphones.
Then, the call quality of the Mivi DuoPods M80 is not up to par, especially in outdoor conditions. Although it claims to include a MEMS microphone, the sound is muffled and almost inaudible in loud conditions.
Another major caveat with the M80 is the lack of the volume control knob typically found in TWS headphones these days.
Should you buy Mivi DuoPods M80?
If your taste for music involves bass-heavy songs, hip hop, and rap, the Mivi DuoPods are the perfect choice for your budget. If you are a smartphone gamer, the DuoPods M80 might just be the bluetooth earphones you are looking for for playing games without any audio lag.
In case your primary goal of purchasing headphones is to assist with wireless phone calls, this might not be the best option for you. That being said, priced at Rs 2,999, Mivi DuoPods M80 stands as a serious competitor in the TWS market.
If Mivi somehow manages to come up with an update to fix the touch sensitivity issue, the Mivi M80 DuoPods could be the best in the class.
