Worry is a Waste

By Jessicavenoy @lovelyjesscuh
I'm a self-proclaimed (and husband proclaimed, ha!) worry wart. It's one thing that I don't love about myself, and I strive to get better every day.

I've wasted so much time worrying. Worrying about little things like what I'm going to make for dinner or what I'm going to wear. And then there's the bigger things like what career I want to pursue or where Adam + I want to settle down and buy a house.
Worry is defined as: "give way to anxiety or unease; allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles." Why would you allow your mind to dwell on your troubles? What good is that going to do?
Now hear me out, I think there can be healthy worrying...but I would classify that as more concern than worry. I'm all for being a realist and acknowledging what is truly going on. I'm okay with spending some time + thought on problem solving and planning. But excessive worrying...nah, I'm not about that.
I've really been focusing on keeping myself grounded in the here and now. Worry takes you out of the present and leaves you dwelling in the future - which hasn't even happened yet. Don't waste your brain space on excessive worrying. Think positive thoughts. Take action to make positive things happen. Trust that the work that you put into something will pay off and that you will end up right where you're supposed to be.
