Wolves (Apple Plus)- Clooney/Pitt Make This Jon Watts Action Comedy Worth A Theatrical Release

Much like another review I just posted, I need to drive more traffic, so I’ve included my original YouTube review. For more in depth thoughts, feel free to check that out. Likes help drive traffic, Subscribers help me get to a point where people stop looking at me like I’m crazy. Ha.

Wolves is from jon Watts, the man behind the last three Spider-Man films, and he has teamed with real life friends George Clooney and Brad Pitt for a rather basic story that relies heavily on their chemistry. I think the reason critics are rejecting this is because we don’t see many “star vehicles” anymore. A lot of those from back in the golden age all relied heavily on one or two actors to deliver, as the plot itself wasn’t necessarily the driving force. Not everything feels so decidedly original in 2024, and this Apple title has a bit of that in there for sure. However, Clooney is very much himself, and Pitt is very much himself. You are getting what you paid for. They work well on screen together, and have a very comfortable banter that supports this movie.

For the audio description, i think it is interesting and challenging how we have to follow Clooney and Pitt, as their characters are intentionally never given names, so the description has to come up with some way of labeling them. And, unlike some other situations where a character isn’t named just because the script didn’t get around to it, the consensus here would be that these are men with no names, who work as lone wolves, and they have to in their line of work.

I found this entertaining, and overall the audio description was strong given the parameters it was asked to live in.
