Wolf Parade returned to the Bowery Ballroom stage yesterday for the second night of their New York City residency, and fans, some of whom showed up the night before, were ready to get down with the Montreal band. Before hitting the stage, Baltimore’s The Snails stepped onstage to warm up the crowd. Dressed in bonnets with antennas and bags of balloons as the shells or “shaloons” on their back, the Future Islands side project was something you wouldn’t expect but were glad to have witnessed.
Following The Snails, Spencer Krug, Dan Boeckner, Arlen Thompson and Dante DeCaro stepped onto the stage with The Clash blaring through the speakers. Since they were playing the Bowery Ballroom for multiple nights, they shook up their set, but made sure it still included their old hits like “This Heart’s on Fire” and “Believe in Anything” as well as the tunes off the just released EP 4. Despite a few slip-ups, the band was grateful to everyone who showed up and those who remained fans despite their hiatus. Now that they’re back onstage and EP 4 is floating around, though, we can be sure they won’t be going back into hiding anytime soon.
