Winter Wonders…

By Clo Hutch @lashesoflife

I’m not a hermit. A stay at home everyday type. A duvet lover I am, but I can get out, when there’s a good enough reason obviously :P

I know in a recent post I recommended my fave tv shows (read here) as it’s getting to the time of year I do quite enjoy a day in (ok so I do like to escape the cold now and again) however there are so many other things I’m getting excited about.

Especially now I’m in London, there’s so many wonderful things coming up for winter time. Here’s a few I’m super excited about:

  • Winter Wonderland – Hyde Park – 21st November – 4th Jan.

Last year was awesome, so much fun going on the rides, wandering around the stalls and drinking mulled wine! Great place to go with friends or the bf. SO excited for this years! Already looking at tickets for the circus – I’ve never been to one!

Alex and I at Winter Wonderland last year, wrapped up drinking mulled wine – yummy!

  • Wembley Christmas Market – Wembley Park  14 November – 23 December from 10am until 8pm.

The Wembley Market is a new addition to the area and I’ve heard great things! Their Christmas market starts November 14th along with ice skating! I can’t wait to browse the stalls for little Christmas pressies and do a spot of ice skating. I love a good christmas market.

  • Ice Skating – Numerous locations

Ok, so I mentioned Wembley Park Ice skating rink already but so many places do ice skating in winter. Looking forward to gearing up in a pair of skates and hitting the ice – Hopefully not hitting the ice, that hurt so much last time :P

  • Light Switch on

I didn’t get to go last year due to work but this year I really want to go to the Oxford Street light switch on! It always sounds awesome and this is definitely something I want to experience this time round. They’ve already putting the lights up too, I spotted them last week whilst doing a bit of costume shopping for halloween.

The lights last year on Oxford Street – taken from Tottenham Court Road end

  • Winter Walks

I do quite like a wintery stroll, wrapped from head to toe in layers and thermals, enjoying the surroundings. Especially if you have good company! You can always stop for a drink along the way :) Or maybe have a wander to see all the christmas lights.

  • Films – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 & The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies

The Hunger Games sure is a fave book and film series. The next part of the story comes out on the 20th November and I am already planning my trip to the cinema with Ally. This should be a great day! – Just before my city break too, so a great week!

Winter is usually home to the release of a new hobbit film, well it has been for the past two years and Alex and I have been to see both. The Hobbit is a fab film and I will definitely be going to see it this time round too! Out on December 12th.

  • Going Home

Snuggling up next to the wood burner is a lovely memory from home during the winter. I love going back home and sitting in the living room, catching up with the family after a nice wintery walk with the dogs.

Also the weekend before christmas is always one of my faves. We have a pre-chrsitmas day celebration and meal and I really enjoy seeing my family, catching up and having a fun night! Alex came with me last year and it was so nice.

Plus there’s more! So much I want to do this winter, with it being the first year I’m not working in a pub or in retail I have weekends and evening to myself…hmm the luxury!

Make sure you keep tuned to read all about my winter adventures!
