Winter Warmers: Home Edition

By Ourbabyblog @OurBabyBlogx
When the weather is super cold outside and pretty miserable, you just want to stay in and hibernate until the sun comes back out, although winter is my favorite season, I think it gives you the chance to turn your home into a cosy, warm and snuggly abode! To be able to get in from work, get into your PJ's, make a yummy hot chocolate, put on a good movie and just snuggle in front of the telly would be pure bliss, but who wants to do that when the weather is so yucky?

Below, I have come up with a few ideas to make your home feel warmer and cosier without breaking the bank and perfect for all budgets! Which is your favourite?

Fireplace
Probably the most obvious way to warm up your home and make it cosier, there is such a variety of fireplace designsbefore Ben & I moved in together, the house I was in had one of those contemporary inset wood burning stoves, a proper fireplace you needed logs to fire up, it's amazing how much heat they actually give off! out there you are guaranteed to find something for you, however they can also be a bit costly to run and a bit of an effort especially with a little one too, especially if like Abbie, they like to pick the coals off of it..probably best to invest in a fireguard too!
Fairy lights
There's something about them that completely changes the tone and feel of a room, warm glow ones especially, wrapped around your staircase, sat across the fireplace or even around artwork and mirrors, no matter where you put them, your room will feel instantly cosier and prettier!

Cushions!

Ok, I may have a slight obsession with them..our bed alone has 6, I think they have to be my favourite accessory actually, perfect for snuggling against in the evening (and having a little snooze on the sofa) and laying them on the floor to create a family seating area for an afternoon of movies! They make your sofa/bed look even comfier and by using warm colours like oranges, yellows & reds, they will instantly make the room cosier!

Candles

Just like fairy lights they can add that magical touch to a room, I love using them around the bath especially, I tend to light about 5 or 6 and place them around the bathroom just before running the bath, just to get the scent around the room, turn off the lights and it becomes so much more inviting and relaxing than having a bright bulb in your vision! Plus you can even save on electricity, the more candles you use, the less lights have to go on!
How do you make your house cosy?
