Winchester, Indiana Farmer’s Market
This Indiana farmer’s market has booth after booth after booth! From one end of the street to the next, there are so very many things to look at, browse through, and consider!
I think we knew we were definitely getting into something different when we met Reinvent the Farm and learned about his solar and bicycle hybrid: an ultra-light cart (pictured left) to easily carry in farmer’s market produce.
Then we met a woman that makes socks and other small items on a WWII sock knitting machine! It’s so neat! I’d never even heard about them, let alone seen one in person!
Back during World War II, folks back at home were able to lend a hand. If I remember right, the machines were given away for free provided that the person would knit so many socks for the soldiers. For an interesting article about World War II and knitting machines, read this. Anyway, the lady had a slew of items available to purchase that she had made on the knitting. She made it look so easy.

We walked through the typical fruit and vegetable booths too, of course, but there were some that really stood out! There’s farm fresh eggs available here–both chicken eggs and duck eggs! Now that’s something you don’t see every day.
So, too, were the homemade soaps made with goat milk or the variety of essential oils. Yes, even cupcakes made an appearance from The Cake Cart.
Beautifully decorated, piled high with frosting, and a fun garnish or two, The Cake Cart cupcakes were a very welcome addition to this bustling farmer’s market! Who can turn down a cute cupcake? Certainly not me!
