Well, if you keep track of my blog, you’ll know that two of the best speakers on parenting in the Philippines, Mr. Francis Kong and Dr. Peter Tanchi, will come to Cagayan de Oro on September 7, 2013 to speak on an event called ParenTEEN (click here for my article). They’re fantastic speakers on this topic not only because of their tremendous speaking ability; they’re fantastic because they’re Exhibit A. It’s a rare treat to see just one of them, but both of them? Back to back? WOW!
Here’s an even better deal: I will give three couples a chance to win two tickets each to ParenTEEN. Yes, you can be in the running to see the two best parenting speakers in the Philippines for free, all you’ll have to do is to do some writing of your own.
So here are the mechanics for my ParenTEEN Contest:
1.Go to Lesson Of A Dad’s Facebook page and “like” it.
2.Then send the page a Facebook PM (Private Message) about one of the three topics below, one winner will emerge from each of them.
a.My greatest struggle in parenting a teen.
b.My greatest (or funniest) moment with my teen.
c.Why my teen son or daughter is so special.
3.In the message, please leave your full name (what’s stated in your ID cards) and phone number so that I can contact you. Also, please leave your teen child or children’s names and their ages so that there is evidence that you are a parent of a teenager or teenagers (that’s part of the rules as you’ll see below).
4.Feel free to write in more than one topic to increase your chances of winning. Just make sure it is clear which topic each piece belongs to.
5.I may publish the winners in a later blog entry. Please indicate if you do or do not wish your entry (or entries) published. If you don’t say anything, I shall assume it is ok to publish.
As in all contests, there are rules. Here are mine:
1.You have to be a parent of a teen. That’s pretty self-explanatory, right? Kinda tough to write about any of the three categories if you’re not a parent. Again, you have to post their names and ages in your entry. I am willing to go as far down as 12 years old or as up as 20, but no more.
2.You would have to be able to attend ParenTEEN on September 7, 2013. This basically limits contest participants to those living in or around Cagayan de Oro. I continue to be flattered and overwhelmed that my blog reaches hundreds of people all over the globe. You guys are wonderful…but sorry, this contest is not for you.
3.You are not eligible if you have seen Francis Kong or Peter Tanchi before. Okay, that’s a bit too rigid, so how about this: You are not eligible if you have seen Francis Kong or Peter Tanchi more than twice before. This means that if you go to church in CCF, where we are blessed to get a hefty dose of Peter Tanchi, then you are not eligible. If you have gone through Peter Tanchi’s very excellent Parenting That Makes a Difference series, then you are not eligible. If you have been to all or most of Francis Kong’s previous CDO visits like Parenting Winners, Marriage to the Max, or Becoming a Person of Excellence, then you’re most likely not eligible unless you’ve only attended only one or two of these events.
Contest is good for exactly a week, meaning it ends on the morning of Monday, September 2, 2013. Winners will be notified via text message from me.
Entering the contest or not, if you are a parent of a teen, then you should drop everything and join ParenTEEN to get excellent wisdom from Francis Kong and Dr. Peter Tanchi. If you know anyone who would be qualified to join this contest, please forward this blog post. Thanks and let the contest begin!
Oh, and for good measure, I am going to show you one video each from Francis Kong and Peter Tanchi. See you on the 7th!
