Win a Glamping Adventure at Wild Northumbrian

Esk Yurt at Wild Northumbrian aka our home for the wkd…

The last time I went camping I slept in the car. So you can imagine my reaction when last weekend I discovered we were going camping or ‘glamping’ as my friend reassured me for a hen do. There’s something not right about sharing a sleeping space that’s smaller than my shoe collection and to be frank I don’t get on well in the country. Armed with a wind up torch, a pair of wellies (Asda is pretty amaze for last minute glamping supplies) and a few hundred bottles of Prosecco, we arrived at Wild Northumbrian unsure of what to expect. We’d left all of our creature comforts at home as well as any sign of phone signal *curses O2* which I have to admit did cause me to have a mild heart attack but in hindsight, now that all kinds of horror movie scenarios aren’t running around in my head, it was rather nice to get away from the rest of the world for 48 hours.

Of course we weren’t completely alone…

We dumped the car and set off in search of our accommodation after consulting the map of course.

We waded through the grass to discover to our delight a rickety drawbridge which looks innocent enough until you add 15 girls and more than a few jugs of Pimms. This path leads to a woodland trail where most of the yurts and tipis are based.

The yurts are fully stocked with all the essentials and lots of little luxuries. Duck down duvets, handcrafted beds and a personal chef? Now this type of glamping I can get on board with. They also have cute shepherd’s huts if you fancy something a little cosier.

After unpacking in our Yurts, we gathered for Pimms and Pizza. I’ve never been so happy (the Harvey Nichols’ sale excluded) to discover that we didn’t have to cook. The lovely team at Wild Northumbrian saved the day with their rather fabulous wood burning pizza oven.

For dessert we had extremely naughty cupcakes that you may have spied on my Instagram. After dinner, we got the party started with a game of beer pong and as night fell we moved the celebrations into the most adorable Tipi. Of course what goes on a hen do stays on a hen do and unfortunately I can’t possibly divulge any of our hen do antics but here’s a pic of hen do HQ.

The next day we played rounders in the field and enjoyed homemade olive bread and salad onsite. The Wild Northumbrian team can organize activities and workshops for you to enjoy and we took advantage of this The sun finally made an appearance and we donned our summer dresses and drank Prosecco in the sunshine. We put on our wellies and walked to the local pub for dinner. We took our torches for the way home.

Here’s the best bit. If you like the idea of a little break in Northumberland, enter my competition to win a two night stay in a yurt at Wild Northumbria! Did I mention it’s dog friendly too? This litte gem of a getaway is perfect for any occasion
