Willie Mae’s Uptown is Now Showing My Paintings

By Billlives

Willie Mae’s Scotch House, located in Treme, is known for the best fried chicken in New Orleans, or anywhere for that matter. I would agree; it has a James Beard award to support their efforts. They recently opened in a second location uptown at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Cherokee Street, near my home. Yesterday I hung 18 painting for sale at Willie Mae’s Uptown. Now you can have great fried chicken and see my work. It is located at 7457 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, 504-417-5424. I have already tried the food at the new location and it is just as good as the original site. Below is some of their great fried chicken with sweet potato fries, some wonderful fried okra and a fried pork chop. It was all good.

As NOLA.Com reports. “Willie Mae's Grocery and Deli will have the full menu of the original. The spicy, wet-battered fried chicken, which half the customers order, will of course be available along with the white beans, the red beans and the pork chops. The menu Uptown will also have po-boys, salads and even wraps.” I am very honored to have my work there.

The paintings are mostly new and include many New Orleans musicians including Aaron Neville, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Doreen Ketchens, Ed Wills, James Andrews, Little Freddie King, and others. Most are painted from photos I took at Jazz Fest and other locations such as Ed Wills at BMC. There are also New Orleans scenes, both macro and micro, as well as Louisiana signs and a big view of chargriled oysters from the concerts at Armstrong Park

The best way to easily see most of my paintings for sale is to go to my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/bill.ives2 - and look at Photos and albums within Photos. I have three photo albums covering my art. One is for discounted pairings under $100.  The other is for most of the rest (over $100). The third is for paintings that I have either sold or ones that are not for sale. However, if anyone is interested in them I will paint another version for them on commission. I will ship anywhere and have shipped art works as far as Australia.

There are currently paintings hanging at two other New Orleans spots besides Willie Mae’s. One is another of my favorite New Orleans restaurants, Riccobono's Panola Street CafeHere is a post describing the showing at Riccobono's. It is located at 7801 Panola Street (504 314-1810). There are also 17 paintings now hanging at the Albert Brown Salon located at 3424 Magazine Street in New Orleans. Here is a post about the Albert Brown show with all of the images. In addition, I am often at Pirate’s Alley on Fridays and occasionally on other days.
