Will It Stay Or Will It Go? Shows Still On The Bubble

The Goldbergs- A recent ratings decline is probably not the best thing for a bubble series, but everything I’ve read and heard indicates that ABC intends on renewing The Goldbergs.

Last Man Standing- It’s a tough show, definitely, but it’s on a tough night. The Tim Allen starrer hasn’t sold into syndication yet, and seems primed for that. It needs another season to be a viable candidate for syndication, so ABC is likely to stick with it.

Trophy Wife- This cancellation is going to hurt. I’m predicting ABC will drop the axe on the critical darling, due to perpetually declining ratings. I’m holding out hope, as I thought Trophy Wife was one of the strongest new shows of the past season. The one bright spot is that it is an in-house production, and that could help it come back.

The Neighbors- It’s unlikely ABC will bring the quirky alien comedy back for a third season. However, it is produced in house, and that could factor in.

Mixology- I can’t see ABC picking this show up.

Super Fun Night- As enticing as a Rebel Wilson show is, this wasn’t the right vehicle for her. I think ABC sees that now, and they’ll let it go.

Suburgatory- This is also a show close to the syndication point. There’s a slight chance that ABC will keep Suburgatory as a midseason replacement so it can fill a hole, and produce more episodes for syndication purposes. However, it is not produced in house, and ABC could make a last minute switch and axe Suburgatory for either Trophy Wife or The Neighbors.

Nashville- Not the best ratings, but ABC seems to want to stick with Nashville.

Revenge, Agents Of Shield, & Resurrection- Technically all bubble series, but they’ll all be coming back. I’m 100% positive.

About A Boy- NBC is definitely bringing this back.

Growing Up Fisher- NBC is probably bringing this back, though this will come down to the strength of the pilots. I doubt Fisher gets a fall spot anyway, most likely it will be a replacement even if it does get renewed.

Hannibal- NBC didn’t pick up Constantine right away, which could mean they’re mulling it over even more. Do they want to keep the Grimm/Hannibal pairing? Even if they go with Constantine, it could just take Dracula’s spot in the fall. I’m betting NBC renews Hannibal.

Community- Despite a showrunner thinking NBC will axe his show, all signs are pointing to a final season renewal for Community, even from the most snobbish prognosticators.

Parenthood- I think they might announce a final season run of Parenthood. It’s time.

Revolution- Things aren’t looking great for Revolution. Word has it that NBC is looking to move on from Revolution. At best, an abbreviated order to wrap up the storyline.

Crisis, Believe, and Dracula- All three series are essentially dead.

All remaining CBS shows, including Friends With Better Lives, Bad Teacher, The Crazy Ones, The Mentalist, Intelligence, and Hostages are not expected to make the cut. Sorry. If I had to pick the strongest bubble show, I’d pick either Bad Teacher or Friends With Better Lives. The Mentalist might switch networks, but CBS seems to be moving on.
