The question was asked, "Will Michael defeat Satan?" The answer is a resounding "yes." Scripture tells us: "Then I saw an angel come down from heaven with the key of the Abyss in his hand and an enormous chain. He overpowered the dragon, that primeval serpent which is the devil and Satan, and chained him up for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and shut the entrance and sealed it over him, to make sure he would not deceive the nations again until the thousand years had passed" (Rv 20:1-3).
The angel in the above case is Saint Michael, prince of the heavenly hosts. The task of defeating and chaining Satan has been assigned to Michael precisely because he was the lowly archangel to rise to and lead the defense of God the Father before the beginning of time, when the rebellion of Lucifer the seraphim - now Satan - and a third of the angels occurred. It is Michael, therefore, who will once again win over Satan with the power of God Himself and the full assistance of his Lady and Queen, the Virgin Mary.
