Nintendo has now sold 9.2 million Wii U consoles worldwide as of December 31, 2014, the platform holder announced as part of its Q3 financial results this morning.
For the financial year to date (April 1 through December 31) 3.03 million Wii U consoles were sold.
The firm expects full year Wii U sales to reach 3.6 million.
Software sales for the console stand at 52.87 million units, with the major success stories being Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which have sold 4.77 million and 3.39 million copies respectively.
3DS hardware sales stand at 50.41 million units, with software sales at 215.96 million as of December 31, 2014.
