When it comes to skincare, the most important thing you can do is moisturize. Coincidentally, this also happens to be the most neglected practice. So often I have people asking me what they can do to improve the health of their skin, and my first question is always "Do you moisturize?" More often than not, the answer is a guilty "No." The reasons for not moisturizing range from pure laziness to the old "my skin is so oily, I don't want to make it worse" excuse. For those of you who are lazy, I'm telling you right now that it's not doing you any favors and you'll regret it in the long run. For those who think it will make things worse, let me tell you why you're wrong...
Some people have naturally oily skin, while some are normal to dry but become oily throughout the day. But more often than not, whether you're dry, oily, or normal, your skin is dehydrated. When your skin is dehydrated it is going to overcompensate for a lack of moisture and produce more oil... Did you hear that? More oil. Your skin needs to stay moisturized to do its job of protecting you, but if you're not providing it with the nutrients it needs, it's going to use what it has to get the job done. Of course, drinking water and eating plenty of water-rich foods will help aid in the over-all health of your skin, but moisturizing on the outside is just as important, as it delivers nutrients that your skin craves, directly to the source, and also locks in the moisture. Not only does moisturizing keep your skin balanced and soft, but it will help prevent wrinkles better than any other practice or "miracle" product can.
So now that you're thoroughly convinced of the importance of moisturizing, let me tell you about my absolute favorite moisturizer. Good Medicine Beauty Lab is all around fantastic. Every product that they make is worth every penny spent. But my can't-live-without product is their Clarity Moisturizer. I always tell people it's like "Heaven in a bottle", and I mean it. All of their products are made with desert botanicals, which means they're packed with nutrient rich ingredients harvested from the resilient plants of the desert. The Clarity Moisturizer is made using ingredients like wild sage, coconut oil, and red rose and gardenia for a cooling effect.
If you're going to invest in anything when it comes to skincare, it needs to be your moisturizer. Your skin's youthful look depends on it...
