Sometimes a trip or tour is all you need to get rid of the monotony from your life. The sheer fun of visiting a new place fills you up with gusto, vigor, happiness and positive energy, the likes of which cannot be experienced otherwise. So, the next time you are bored of your humdrum routine, simply pack your bags and get going. That’s exactly why I decided to visit Jamshedpur, one of the most beautiful and well planned industrial towns in India.
Why Jamshedpur? Well, unlike the much sought-after hill stations, sea beaches and other popular destinations in the country, this unexplored yet attractive city has a lot to offer in terms of food, places, travel and tour.

Still not sure of whether to head to Jamshedpur or not? I tell you why Jamshedpur can easily become your next travel destination.
Reared and developed by the famous Tata group, Jamshedpur is in the state of Jharkhand and is renowned for its well-laid township, large scale industries such as Tata Steel, Telco and Tinplate as well as its diverse population. The city also boasts of spectacular landscapes, unique culture & traditions as well as popular hotels & restaurants that offer mouth watering food and cuisine. However, there’s more to Jamshedpur than all of this. The city embodies some of the most remarkable tourist spots that will amaze and attract you in many ways.
Visit Dimna Lake for some adventurous activities…
The first on my list is the beautiful Dimna Lake. Situated thirty minutes away from the city and closer to the awe-inspiring Dalma mountain ranges, it is an onlooker’s delight. As a tourist, you will admire the calm and mesmerizing view of the lake. You can also engage in a number of activities at Dimna, even as you soak in the beauty and warmth of the lake. Some of the popular activities include camping, rowing, boating as well as jet skiing.
Enjoy a peaceful evening at the Jubilee Park…
With its cool breezy atmosphere, fountains and lush green grasses, Jubilee Park will provide you with plenty of space for unwinding and enjoying park activities. Located at the heart of city, this 225 acres park also offers spectacular fountain laser show for its visitors at night. However, the best time to visit the park is in the month of March when it is beautifully lit with decorative lightings to mark the birth anniversary of the founder of the city, Jamshedji Tata. The park also encloses a rose garden, recreational area and zoo.
Take your kids to the Tata Steel Zoological Park…
This is a must visit place for people who are traveling with kids or in groups. The Tata Steel Zoological Park features wild animals, natural landscapes, eating joints, bus ride, elephant ride, boating, photo gallery and so much more.
Come closer to nature at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary…
Jamshedpur also has the naturally beautiful and captivating Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. It serves as an ideal destination for trekkers, adventurers and wildlife admirers. So, when you are in the mood to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and watch wild animals such as deer, tigers, monkeys and elephants moving around freely, then head straight to Dalma.
Pay a spiritual visit to Bhuvaneshawari Temple…
Last but not the least, the Bhuvaneshawari temple situated atop a hill in the Telco area of Jamshedpur is the perfect spot to visit for those who are spiritually inclined. The temple boasts of exemplary architecture and provides travelers with the much needed peace and solitude. Right from seeking the blessings of Goddess Bhuvaneshawari to enjoying Prasada and the beautiful view of the river that flows behind the temple, you will love every single minute spent here.
Apart from the above, travelers can also visit the Hudco Lake, Golpahari temple and Jayanti Sarovar located within the city.
How to Reach?
Jamshedpur is well connected to India by road, rail and air. The nearest airport is at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, located around 150kms from Jamshedpur, while the Tatanagar Junction is the railway junction in Jamshedpur from where trains run from to any major stations in the country. Since it is connected by national and state highways, both state-run and private buses ply regularly to the nearby cities.
Where to stay?
There are a plethora of options when it comes to hotels in Jamshedpur, both budget and luxury and finding one should not be a problem.
