Twenty years after its debut, Cruel intentions still has a massive fan base and is credited with helping several viewers including Demi Lovato, realize they were weird.
However, the teen love movie was rated R when it was released in 1999, and Ryan phillippe was not sure his parents would love the movie as much as the fans.
Ryan chatted with Barstool Sports' KFC radio on Tuesday, November 17, and revealed he was concerned his parents would deny him after his role in Cruel intentions.
He was asked if the script, about two teenagers making a sex bet, sounded "normal" at the time. Ryan replied, "No, and you know, I thought my parents were going to deny me."

He had grown up attending a religious school, but continued to portray revolutionary LGBTQ characters on screen. "My first role, however, coming out of Christian school when I was in high school, I played the first gay character in a soap opera, the first gay teenager of all time," Ryan continued.
