I’m not really a full-price kinda girl. It’s all about maximising the elasticity of my dollar. Buying bargains has a lot to do with planning, a heap to do with patience, it requires bucket-loads of opportunity and has *nothing* at all to do with cheap and nasty. It’s like an extreme sport really
Today Baby Girl and I went on a shopping hunt. I have an upcoming ‘in-laws function’ that requires something new (well, yes, it does) and today was the day to scour the stores in search of something suitable for me and for Baby Girl to be decked out in for this 2 day eventaganza. We won! We smashed our shopping goal and then some more BUT the very best bit was blowing big raspberries to full price!
The first *need* was for an outfit for the dinner-do. Not after 5, but nicer than casual hmmmmm.
Add a black skivvy and a noice bit of bling. Done, baby!
Well, hellllllo sale rack! 1 pair of black trousers $69.99 $19.99, 1 swingy rust coloured top $69.99 $29.99 and a black scarf $15.00 $3.43. Not over-the-top-going-to-the-palace dressy and not backyard BBQ fodder either. Yew!
The following day of celebration is an open house lunch. Much more casual, yes, but my house attire (trackydacks and sloppy Ts) would never, ever do. Nor then would my jammies. Yeeehaaaaa for find number 2 – a grey/black animal print (insert growwwwwl here) tunic-y thing. I’ve always wanted to try wearing a tunic – bit out of my comfort zone but I love them on others. I already had grey or black leggy pants to go with and so was chuffed to bits at $79.99 $29.99. On the same rack was a similar-ish number that I thought would be super cool for work and at $59.99 $29.99? Don’t mind if I do
Add to my basket a brown polka dot scarf (love polka dots and love scarfs) $15.00 $2.83 and a pretty Esprit T for $49.90 $14.96 and I was as happy as a pig in the proverbial!
I already had something suitable for Baby Girl to wear out to dinner but wanted to get her something noice for the day-do and again not a full price in sight $29.99 $15.00, *the* most precious jodphurs down to $8.40 and cutie pie shoes $24.97 $15.00. Woo-bargain-hoo!
How darn cute is this getup?? Seriously way too sweet!
The day was not without casualty though. Baby Girl wanted a tutu.
Alas, no tutu. I guess that shall be my next challenge then, to hunt down a tutu in the bargain bin. Oh, where on Earth to start looking!
WHAT! No tutu?????
What bargain buys have you snapped up lately? We all love a good shopping story
