It’s safe to say that when you are planning on moving house, the number one most important thing is the property’s location. In fact, wanting to find a new base is the usual reason why many families move house in the first place. Usually, this is in search of a new lifestyle, one that will help their children to grow and to be the best that they can be. For this reason, more and more parents are moving themselves and their children out to rural areas. But why is that, exactly? Well, here are just a few reasons why the rural life could be the right thing for you and your family.

Homes are cheaper
Yep, you heard that correctly. Unless you are buying a six-bedroom country mansion, you will find that homes in rural areas are typically much cheaper than those in major towns and cities. This is because the job markets in cities draw such a huge amount of people that prices inflate to match the demand. In the quieter countryside, however, you will probably find that you can get a lot more bang for your buck, so to speak. So, could even look for land for sale and purchase a plot, and build a house of your very own – and there’s a chance the whole thing would cost less than a townhouse in the city! The same goes for living costs: buying groceries, going out to eat and entertaining all generally cost less in a more rural area than it does in the big city.
The crime levels are much lower
In sleepy towns and villages surrounded by forests and mountains, you don’t really hear about that much crime going on. Crime obviously still does exist in these places – it doesn’t matter where you go, there will still be some questionable characters around. But because of the quiet nature of the countryside, organized crime is much less common. This means you can also allow your children to live a much more independent life, as you won’t be so worried about them getting caught up in anything potentially harmful.

You get the best of both worlds
In the city, it can sometimes feel as though there is constantly a sense of urgency in the air. After all, they don’t call New York the city that never sleeps for no reason. This can be a fun atmosphere to live in for a while – such as when you are a student or a single person in your twenties. But when you have a family of your own, you will probably find yourself craving a little more peace and quiet – a more restful day to day life. Moving out to the countryside doesn’t mean giving up all aspects of city life. You would, in fact, be surprised at just how close beautiful rural areas are to many major cities in the US. With this in mind, there’s nothing to stop you setting up home in the countryside, but being able to commute through to the city for work or entertainment within an hour.
