If you have just bought a new iPad 4 tablet, then you are so out of luck. Although, if you’re in the market looking for a good tablet then your timing can’t be more perfect because after keeping us waiting for almost a year, Apple has just unveiled the fifth generation iPad dubbed “iPad Air”, which I think is the best Apple tablet ever made.
“This is the thinnest, lightest, and most powerful iPad we’ve ever delivered,” Apple designer Jony Ive said in a promo video. And you know what, he’s not wrong. From the looks of it, iPad Air shows enough potential to beat all the other tablets in the world. You can take my word for it because I’m not a person who usually adore Apple products.
The Brand New Design
First change I noticed in iPad Air is the awesome new look. This is the biggest and the first design change Apple has made since the iPad 2. iPad Air sports a design much similar to the iPad Mini with a 7.5mm slim body featuring beautifully curved edges and weighing in at just one pound. Apple claims that “iPad Air is 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than” the iPad 4. However for some reason, Apple has decided to avoid strapping TouchID onto the new iPad.
64-bit Performance
Apple has upgraded the iPad Air with the same powerful 64-bit A7 processor that came with the new iPhone 5s, along with M7 motion co-processor to make the device even smarter. The device has the same 9.7-inch Retina display but it will perform better with the new iOS 7 and the processor. Even with all these brilliant features Apple promises that the new iPad will run for at least 10 hours with a single charge.
Improved iSight HD Cameras
Who says taking pics with a tablet is lame when it has an amazing 5-MP iSight camera that is capable of shooting 1080p HD videos. And to make video calling much smoother, iPad Air packs a next generation FaceTime HD camera on the front as well. Combined with all the capabilities in the iOS 7, these cameras are capable of delivering the best quality image and video you can ever imagine.
In addition to all these great new features, Apple’s 9.7-inch flagship tablet has all the other features from its’ predecessor. iPad Air launches globally on November 1st at $499 for the Wi-Fi only model and $629 for the Wi-Fi + cellular model.
Considering the power of the 64-bit desktop-class Apple A7 chip, improved cameras and the fair pricing plans, I think iPad Air is unarguably the best tablet in the market. Although, I can’t say the same for iPad Mini because I’m not a fan of smaller tabs. But, it does feature the same A7 processor and a sharper 7.9-inch Retina display. It costs $399. My advice is that unless you’re interested in smaller size, you should invest an additional $100 bucks and go for the iPad Air.
