Why I Think Mugamoodi Will Click

With days away from its release, UTVs ‘Mugamoodi’, starring Jiiva, Narain and Pooja Hegde is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. Touted to be the first superhero film in Tamil; Mugamoodi is actually a film driven by the spirit of a superhero, to stand up and fight against crime. Despite its hype and vogue, let’s find out why I think this film will click and leave an impact.

The Superhero Effect:

Needless to say, fans are going gaga over the superhero they’re all set to see on-screen. This is not the first time we’ve had a superhero in India, but it is in Tamil Nadu, and that in itself is a crowd-pulling reason. And there’s an element of surprise lurking around which will be revealed on Aug 31st, the day of the release of the film. It’s believed that the film doesn’t portray the protagonist as a superhero; on the contrary, will awaken the superhero within the hero. This is interesting and I most definitely want to see how the makers have handled the same in the film. In short, you walk into the theater hoping to catch a superhero fly tall buildings but you may not see that instead you will see a common man rise up to the occasion and fight crime in superhero style.

Jiiva in a New Avatar:

The day it was announced that Jiiva will essay the role of a superhero, fans went crazy. However, there was some aspect of doubt in the form of a rumor doing the rounds – whether Jiiva can pull this off. After all, throughout his career, he’s only played roles that are either humorous or a mix of humor and action, but never a full-fledged role of an action hero. But, when the film’s trailer was launched; the whole theory of doubt was washed clean off their minds. Today, after seeing few making footage of the film on web and TV; people are convinced that nobody but Jiiva could’ve done justice to the role.

The Music:

Music by Krishnakumar, popularly known as K, has generated maximum hype for the film within days of its release. He’s already left us all dumbstruck with the song ‘Vaaya Moodi Suma Iru Da’, which is played back-to-back across radio stations, on fans’ mobile phones and MP3 players. It’s not just the songs that are highly spoken of but the music of the album per se; especially, musical tracks such as ‘Blue Panther on the Road’, ‘Don’t Drive you Car with the Music On’ are sure to serve as a fitting composition.

The Man in the Dark:

Be it any successful film irrespective of the language, eventually all credit boils down and is passed on to one person – the director. Mugamoodi is helmed by Myssikn, a director with an array of critically acclaimed films. Unlike other directors who like to talk greatly of their work, Myssikn is a man of few words or should I say someone who prefers to stay in the dark and mind his own business. I’m certain he would’ve breathed life into this film because sources claim that he’s keen to come back with a sequel to ‘Mugamoodi’.
