Why I Love Stories…

By Jenrene

I love stories. They help me to meet new people and learn from their experiences as they obtain new information about life, and living.  One can learn a lot about people and their culture, I can travel to places I have never been, and I can glean and vicariously live through their experiences.

Some of the greatest stories I have heard were from people who has succeeded by having amazing success by simply exercising their faith. Hebrews the 11th chapter, for instance absolutely amazes me! It speaks to the ability of God to respond in miracles. Now unless you have had a miracle happen to you, then you may not be aware the reality of them to sustain and encourage your faith.

I have had several miracles happen to me. The ones I believed in the most and were the hardest to believe though, were the ones that challenged my faith and had me believe in God on another level and also encouraged my hear tot believe Him for more.

Stories take you on an adventure. They inform you, they open up your mind and challenge your thinking. They make you want to dream and accomplish more, to travel to new places and create. Stories make you want to save and record them, place them in a bottle and send across a sea some place remote… as least me, anyway – because when I hear a story that can be life- changing, I want everyone to know it. It doesn’t matter who, it just matters that I tell it. I don’t think I realized how powerful stories were until I traveled half way across the world to South Africa. I recorded so many, I sincerely believed it was necessary people hear them in order to know their dreams could be inspired as well. The stories I created made me want to share more, create more stories and documentaries about people’s lives.

Stories have meaning and they can change lives by creating “paradigm shifts. Here’s my story of how I gained a revelation of my strength when I attended a five day conference in 2003. I attended a Leadership conference one year that was quite revelatory and helped me to see myself differently and more confidently. All week long we told healing stories and we challenged our old belief systems and created new paradigms. I left this conference a new person. One of my conversations with a friend was about the meaning of my name: Jennifer. The conversation was brief: I explained to her that my name meant “White Wave” –which I explained – meant that it created peace, by the unending and relentless tide that came non-stop, every day to the shores. Having come from a very deep and enlightening seminar that evening, she said to me: Why stop there.. and why so small? ( In it’s meaning….) I laughed as I thought about a HUGE TIDAL WAVE – at that moment, crashing into the shores and being powerful, influential, strong and cleansing. Since I had this awesome revelation, my purpose has never ceased to fall short of being fully directed by God and had an amazing effect upon the lives I influence. My potential elevated to another level. In fact, I had just returned from South Africa, and I was already literally swimming in recent revelation of the meaning of my African name that was given me: Nthabiseng, which meant “Make me Happy.” Imagine that! A powerful tidal wave of influence to make others happy and blessed.

I felt so empowered to influence lives at that very moment and I began to think about all the possible ways I could bless their lives.
